Good Afternoon, Carlton Families,

I hope you are all safe and healthy.

Half-Day Tomorrow:

There is a half-day tomorrow. Students will be served breakfast and lunch. Dismissal time is at 12:00.

STEM Week:

Carlton will be celebrating STEM week by getting our reading buddies together this Friday. Each E2 class is assigned a buddy class in P2 and each E1 class is assigned a biddy class in P1. Classes will pair up the students and they will be creating a very special project. In addition, we will be testing their creations once they are complete. We are looking for help in supplying some clean and dry recycled material. If you can help, please send in the recycled material by Thursday. Don’t forget to ask your student Friday afternoon what they created.

COVID Testing:

Great News! We have signed consent forms to test 80% of our Carlton students. Although this is great, we would love to get 100%. If you have not completed the forms, you still can. The forms can be found on Parent Square, or you can request a paper form and we will send it home. Let’s keep our Carlton Community safe by testing all students.

PTO:

The PTO is a volunteer organization at the school that raises money at the school to fund extra curricula activities for our students. In addition, they help with other tasks that may need volunteers. You do not have to commit to anything you cannot handle. They would love for more people to help when they can. Please think about coming to the next meeting on November 8, 2021, from 6:30pm – 7:30pm. You can either come in person or join virtually through zoom. The link will be sent as the date gets closer.

The Salem Education Foundation (SEF) is holding their annual Food for Thought Raffle again this month! The Food for Thought Raffle sends the lucky winner to dinner for two ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! This prize includes all airfare and lodging for 2-3 nights. The winning ticket will be chosen on Halloween by State Representative Paul Tucker.

This raffle is a great way to get involved and to sell tickets that will benefit students all across Salem, including Carlton! The student who sells the winning ticket receives a prize, too. Choose between four one-day passes to CoCo Keys or a $250 Visa gift card to spend as you wish!

The ticket cost is 1 for $5 or 5 for $20.

To participate, complete the form you received last week and return to the office with payment by October 22, 2021. If you need more room, attach an additional piece of paper. Make checks payable to The Salem Education Foundation. Tickets will be filled out and stubs returned for distribution.

Good luck!

Finally, we are still collecting money for the Walk-A-Thon. If you have not brought in your donations, you still have time. Please drop them off in the office.

Bus Evacuation Drill:

Today, our students performed bus evacuation drills. These drills are conducted yearly, although we did not conduct them last year, to provide instructions for all students in case of an emergency. Students were on the bus for less than 10 minutes.
