Family Update
Hello Carlton Families,
Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Welcome:
I want to give a warm welcome to our new P1 families. It is so wonderful to have such a great group of new P1 students. We are happy that you have joined our community.
Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt:
The PTO has planned a wonderful, free event at Forest River Park on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. Families are invited to bring their flashlights and hunt for candy canes in the park. There are special candy canes with prize winning ribbons! You need to register for the event by December 9th at carltonelementarypto@gmail. Siblings are welcome. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021, same time. Any questions, please use the email above.
Carlton Gear:
The PTO has collected all the forms and placed the order for new Carlton gear. The PTO is hoping to have the gear to families prior to the last day of school in December. If you were not able to order Carlton gear this time, do not worry, the PTO will be doing another order in the spring.
COVID Update:
We had zero positive cases this week in our COVID pool testing. YAY! I am hoping that the surge is behind us, and we can get back to a more normal school day. Please continue to follow all the COVID protocols so that we can keep our community safe and healthy.
Report Cards:
There have been some changes to our report card this year. The district is hoping the new report cards provide families with pertinent information on each individual student. Student’s report cards should be ready to view by Friday afternoon. There were a couple of bumps as we tried to input information. We are working closely with the IT department and are hopeful that all is fixed and there will not be any issues. If something comes up between now and Friday and there is an issue, we will let you know ASAP. If you have any issues with accessing Aspen, please call Mrs. Weaver at (978) 740-1280 and she will be happy to help you accessing Aspen.
Dismissal:
Reminder that students are dismissed at 2:25. All staff at Carlton are “off duty” at 2:35. Please make sure to get to Carlton on-time as we do not have staff available to watch children that are not picked up on-time.
In addition, please stay in a single line while you are coming into the school parking lot to pick up your student. As you get to the front of the school, we allow two car lanes, one near the curb and the other near the parked cars. Please leave space for buses and other cars to leave in the middle lane. You are NOT allowed to stop in the middle of the street to pick up your child.
School Committee:
This Monday, December 6, 2021, two Carlton students will be sharing their transition meeting presentations. They are presenting their meetings to show the community how important these meetings are to our students and our school.
Reminders:
- First trimester report cards go home Friday, December 3rd.
- Wednesday, December 8th is a half-day for students. Parent Teacher conferences will be held from 12:30 – 2:30 and 6:00 – 7:30. Sign Ups have been sent through Parent Square.
- Carlton has No School on Thursday, December 23rd – Friday, December 31st. We return to school on Monday, January 3rd. This IS different from the district. Please make sure to mark your calendars.
Have a wonderful week. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Bethann Jellison, Principal
